We didn't get breakfast at our hotel this morning but were smart enough to purchase a couple of buns last night for our morning sustenance. What can one expect for ten bucks a night? After a very cold shower I crawled back into bed to warm up. We were on the road by eight am and had an awesome day on the Ho Chi Minh Trail exploring small towns and villages. We attracted a lot attention from many of the locals and were treated like movie stars by young kids. We shot a lot of video today on the Go Pro helmet cam as we passed through spectacular villages and countryside. Contrary to how we drive in North America we always kept our bikes as close to the shoulder of the road as possible as it is common for trucks and other vehicles to pass without regard to oncoming traffic. Children on bicycles, water buffalo pulling carts, stray cattle and dogs and scooters were constant threats. Maniacal truck drivers that slowed for no one made us constantly aware of the dangers of travel in this country. Tonight we arrived in Dong Hoi well after the sun set which gave us a whole new experience in motorcycle travel. It is very common for most of the locals to drive without the use of headlights and we had a few close calls. Tomorrow will be a day of rest and exploring Dong Hoi.
Our Mascot LD ( Lucky Dragon )
Vietnam Dan on the Ho Chi Minh trail.
We had to be on constant alert for maniacal truck drivers.
