Dong Hoi

January 16, 2014.
Located along the banks of the Nhat Le River, Dong Hoi is unspoiled and pleasantly untouristed. As the main staging area for the NVA Dong Hoi was heavily bombed and suffered more than most during the American war. The town has since recovered as a congenial provincial capital and we had a wonderful day exploring its local markets and mixing with its warm and friendly people.

The ruined facade of the Tam Toa Church. Most of this city was destroyed during the Vietnam war.
